joeflan 4 Sep, 2018 2nd dog as part of the Hard rock in 37.5 hour challenge, tough route and brilliant lead by Chris especially in the damp, I was so close but stupidly greased off a crimp by the belay.

Nigel Bond 15 Sep, 2016 AltLd Extol is a fantastic route and a worthy achievement to all that climb it. Many of the notes people have put on this climb are negative and off putting. The fare grade for this climb is E2+ with a 5b technical grade. The route is on solid good rock It has good protection throughout we took 15 cams and used all of these there are plenty of good wire placements. Also several long slings over good spikes. There is a good resting place below the roof hands free. There are several places to rest on the route. We gave it a good clean today removed lots of moss and plants. It was dry so with the weather we have had recently I would say it's a quick drying route. Please ignore lots of the previous comments because it just puts people off which caused me great problems for finding a partner for this fantastic route that was found by Don Whillans. Enjoy I did.

philhilo 27 Sep, 2015 AltLd Rematch. What can I say, E2 5b, lol! I've done easier E4s! Distinctly suspect gear and never where you want it , nasty fall potential, sustained 5c/6a. Which bit is E2 5b? Took 3 hours trying to figure out how in tarnation to get up it at the grade. Challenging but got up it with several rests (some on very crap gear).

philhilo 1 Sep, 2015 Lead dnf Did first two pitches of Hangover......grim. Never had issues seeing footholds through ferns 10m up, and usually climb on frozen moss not fresh. Raspberries up the chimney and on the belay. Then didn't look closely at guide and didn't spot traverse down from belay. Set off up death choss above belay. Rocks and me coming down multiple times. Bailed due to lack of time and heavy showers. Then spotted the traverse DOWN from the belay to the large lawn out left. Next time.

ed edwards 27 Aug, 2011 Lead dnf Crag seemed seriously overgrown. Didn't look like anyone had been on it in a while. Started initially up original start. Got bored of kicking steps in to mud and fighting brambles. Re-Started as for Hangover, finished as for hangover. Dove crag does not seem to be a crag, so much as a scree that hasn't happened yet. GRIM.

Martin Bennett 5 Sep, 1981 - At last. Came here twice in the sixties and suffered the first pitch only to bottle it. Not surprising - too ambitious for us then but it goes OK - must do as I led it today on a cold damp misty day needing 4 layers of clothes! Steady drizzle by the time Jim followed.

Sean Kelly ?Sep, 1974 Lead O/S Encouraged by Bob Millward's ascent the previous week. Started up first pitch of Hangover , then got a small nut on 4mm perlon at the first steep groove of Extol, then higher up, a tape on a large spike but then nothing until above the crux wall at the peg. The hardest route in the guide at the time! Top E2 5c.
