12 pitches. 5.7 C2F. One of the popular big walls for those working up to the Nose. Steep with lots of fixed gear.
5.13b A0, the free variation (The Westie Face, Leo Houlding 2001) starts where the bolt ladder ends at a small ledge in a shallow steep groove. Next pitch to Ahwahnee ledge is the crux at 5.13b with four further pitches of 5.12 or 5.13. Described by Leo as of semi-sport nature and set to become a classic of its grade. Flashed by Caldwell in 2004.

JoeCoxson 28 Sep, 2018 Lead O/S First bigwall. Climbed over two days and two nights. Started midday-ish 27th, took the gear across the gangway and lead P1+2 and P3+4 as two pitches up to the Ahwahnee ledge. Finished hauling just as darkness fell and had a great bivi. Day two started with Luke’s first aid pitch and Luke’s first aid fall, back across the pendulum to the start of the pitch. Did all the leading and hauling after that. Linked P5+6 and P8+9. Kilnsey overhang was great practice for the roofs! Topped out pitch 10 and ran a guideline up to the summit in the sunset, decided to bivi again, finish the whiskey on Dano ledge and descended the morning of the 29th. Had the two Austrian Stephan’s ahead on the first day, who slept in the valley after fixing up to P4, then caught us up again on and put up a portaledge at the top of P10. No other teams on route thankfully, but three teams starting as we descended.

arose 11 Sep, 2018 AltLd Walked in and started climbing at 12. Did to pitch 4, bivied and the to the summit and down the next day. The last two abseils were exciting in the dark with only one head torch. The climbing is way harder than the nose.

petemeads ?Jun, 1977 AltLd Fixed first pitch in the evening, kipped on the ledge then completed the route the next day. I remember the first pitch being full of manky wires/bashies/smashies (with some gaps)rather than good quality bolts - it seemed fairly precarious!
