JoeCoxson 18 Aug, 2018 Lead O/S Pure rainy day madness. Was fully expecting type 2 fun and benightment, but we cruised up in an afternoon. Led in two pitches, only placed a handful of nuts and cams, the rest was bolts and pegs of varying quality

team fat belly 12 Nov, 2017 - A committing few moves off the belay are probably the crux. A clip stick will make life considerably easier. I have no doubt that experienced aid climbers would wander along it but hanging of a dodgy old peg in the middle of a roof spinning round 40 metres up is not the ideal testing ground for intricate ropework problem solving. A great day out but I earned it more than I expected to.

Flavio 15 Jan, 2017 AltLd Dogging like it's 1957! About 95% faff and 5% "climbing" but a useful skill to practice. In the rain, I got p2 and roof, very exciting and helped restore some faith into rotten pegs.. Learned a lot as I went along and aided without specialist gear. An amazing experience and has opened up a new fun world of cheating when the weather is crap.

philhilo 22 Jun, 2016 Lead O/S Taking the original Directissima and Mandela line. Much faffing going around a birds nest on the 1st pitch, necessitated some free climbing on loose stuff under the roof and lowering out to clean. Roof itself was as advised a succession of good bolt - rotten peg - good bolt - rotten peg (really really rotten, you would not hang your coat on them), with a hangerless bolt thrown in. C2F. Ran out of quickdraws and slings, added a few cams to back up some of the rust. Completed roof in the dark. Cleaned it (i.e repeated it) next morning. Good to see Nigel getting his tick too.

Nigel Bond 21 Jun, 2016 - Another great outing from the Hard Rock collection. Mike led the way up a 6c route, I followed on jumars however to lead or second the roof you need to aid climb the hard part for seconding is reaching back to strip the gear. Quite scary watching the leader but once hanging from the roof you get into a routine of aid climbing which is awesome. It was great to see Phil whom appeared at the same time and it's marvellous that he was going to solo it, well done Phil. Well done Mike for sorting our tactics which were spot on. I learnt a lot and would be a little slicker next time. The challenge on Harris awaits!!!

nwdave ?Jun, 2016 AltLd First pitch is best Freed to top or to second bolt, first picth has the difficulty with some hooking C2F. Second pitch is all on fixed gear no cams or wires placed, used the old bolts, new bolts, a rivet and in-situ pegs C1F.

petegunn 13 Mar, 2015 Lead O/S Still well scary but not as wet. Once committed to the roof its not too bad! Used a couple of cams, nuts and threads for the first pitch and a few nuts and a hook used on the roof. Good effort from Matt as it was his first (and probably last) aid route!

sparkass 1 Feb, 2015 AltLd O/S An amazing aid adventure in the UK, well worth doing. Surprising how few ascents this gets. Climbed entirely in standard aid style (no cheat stick). Several clean aid moves and hooks required, lots of fixed gear through the roof. Grade is about C2F in its current state. Icicles and freezing temps added to the fun.

Mark Collins 9 Mar, 2014 Solo O/S Not sure what constitutes an on sight in aid climbing, but I didn't take any falls. Used a clip stick all over the second pitch and occasionally on the first. Don't see any other way of doing it, without getting a hammer out. Uncomfortable and adventurous, excellent for exhibitionists.
