240m. The big sprawling gully at the highest section of the most northerly part of cliff usually has two big but not too difficult ice pitches. Higher up it forks; either fork can be good depending on conditions. The left fork often contains an excellent ice pitch. The right fork has a short steep iced corner with fine bridging moves.

Escaped left at the second ice pitch, following JP's protestation. "Ben, I don't want to climb that." "Ben, i'm not fucking climbing that!" Will return with more fitness throughout. First ice pitch drippy, with sound of flowing water. Lots of powder on the snowy section.

4 substantial ice pitches. I took the Left hand branch at the top which was better formed on the day, and gave a nice long pitch to easy ground, not quite enough ice to take whole ice screws.

Not much snow about but plenty of usable ice all the way up, the grade 4 right branch is not touching down but can be turned on the right. The left branch ice pitch is 25m and currently grade 4.

Starts left of north gully. Climb starts with a small frozen waterfall, then moves up a mix of ice and snow with a run out to a good belay on the right hand side of the gully. Second pitch much of the same move up some ice to more snow and belay on the left with protection on the gully wall. The final pitch is a push to the top with ok protection on the right you follow the ice right and top out on the flat. A good introduction to ice climbing for a novice and experience leader. Key features are run outs between gear and the mix of ice and snow that makes up the climb.

ADConway 16/Feb/15 AltLd

First Grade III lead, very enjoyable with fairly good weather, started a bit late so walked off in the dark. Bit soft in places but good ice found higher up.
