Rockfax Description
Tackle the front face of the block. There is only one hard move but it is a bit of a teaser; a tricky mantelshelf. © Rockfax

Good move if you rock up/mantle left from the big ledge with excellent gear (standard sized cams - put a few in just in case!) Going right and using the arête is not the route and is much easier.

Rock was a little damp and my hand slipped out of the horizontal break at the crux. Was unlucky that the rock chipped away where i'd placed gear and fell 7m to the ground. Fractured neck and broke my spine in 3 places. I dont think the crux was actually that difficult and i'm annoyed that I fell. Intend to go back and finish it in the dry with the shiny new metal rods in my back :)

Looks crap from floor but climbs nice. E1 5c in the bmc guide which seems on the money. Perhaps HVS 5b if using the right arete?

E1 5c as per the new guide felt about right. Only one tricky sequence, but quite a good one.

Ace move, then some lovely jug pulling on the upper section.

a bit painful with a twisted ankle, it's quite a rockover.

Solid E2 6a - a well-protected 6a crux followed by an underprotected 5c/6a (For me, having a very short reach, it was 6a). I lost the count of number of trials of various moves before I finally made it.

Given E1 5c in the old Froggatt guide. I thought that seemed fair considering the gear and the difficulty of the crux. A much better route than some descriptions would suggest.
