UKC

230m, 8 pitches. Based on The Great Chute. Start at the base of the rib just R of the steep slope which leads into Eastern Gully.
1. 35m. 3. Climb the rib on mixed ground to where E.G. steepens. Belays at the foot of E.G. pitch 2.
2. 35m. 4. As for E.G. to it’s belay.
3. 35m. 4. Follow E.G. for 10m before traversing L 4m then up to snow and belay at the foot of overlapping corners.
4. 50m. 6. The corner is tackled using the ice slab and the main cracks to exit with difficulty into a small grassy bay. Poor belay, tied off turf bollard, rock1 & axes.
5. 35m. 3/4. traverse R out of the bay and round onto the R of the rib, up this. This is about 30m from the main line of E.G. upper slopes.
6. 90m. Continue up the rounded buttress in several wandering rope lengths, overcoming some awkward sections initially, then easier ground to the summit ridge.
