βeta: Given the ab rope in the picture in the new guide, we checked it out. Not something I would recommend tbh. Choose life, choose the walk in from Scrattling...it's nice. Do not underestimate the seriousness of this route. It may be short and the climbing may be 'only' 5a, but the position is seriously exposed, rock quality erratic (though the rubbish is generally avoidable), gear is all fairly hard won but seems relatively ok given general vibe of the route (focus on relatively). Rope drag can be a problem in that chimney if you let it and there are lots of sharp edges for your rope if you fall off. E2 5a seems an appropriate warning grade for a great adventure route - hats off to the 1st ascentionists - great work. | ||
