justaddpowder 26 Sep, 2018 - Camped in the van and set off up the hill. Left to late and dumped the gear just before the glacier to collect the next day. Night in the van and up again slogging up the scree to the hut. No water or gas at the hut (closed for winter) so scrounged some wood and snow melt. Two French climbers joined us late that eve and produced a fondue which they warmed on our embers! Up and left early and reached the start of the ridge at dawn. Up the pitches of the grand gendarme with tat belays. Dave, who lead, opted for boots whilst I tried the pitches in crampons which made the slab crux interesting ! A bit of faff getting of the gendarme and then met the French climbers who were on the way down ! The summit at last at 1200 then a long way down. Detached a fridge sized boulder whilst traversing around the side of the ridge which nearly caught the rope between me and Dave but managed to lift the rope and ride the loose rock I was standing on for a few feet before it came to rest. Back to the hut and all the long, long way down to the van at about 1000.

Krsoderstrom ?Jul, 2018 AltLd With Ethan and Tom. BIG, big day out. Made good time on the ascent (for moving as a three) despite being stuck in a bottleneck below the grand gendarme and having guides swarm over us. Slow in decent, also waited at an abseil for a while as a someone had to be rescued off the mountain.

El_Dave_H 28 Aug, 2016 2nd Guided by Andy Lanham, courtesy of Frost Guiding. Route was fairly dry, some icy sections here and there. Out the hut at 4:20 to beat the rush, 2nd team on the summit, 1st team back at the hut (no bottled water or Rivella, they were a day away from resupply!) 3 hours 20 ascent, around 2:45 for the descent. Awesome route, amazing setting, great way to end the season.
