Please refrain from climbing outside

Due to the ongoing spread of Covid-19, please abstain from climbing outside.

At UKC we are all climbers and we understand the strong urge to be outdoors as the weather is finally improving, but we feel this is no longer socially acceptable. You can read our statement here.

We have suspended the UKC Logbooks Top Ascents and Conditions pages and we will no longer accept ascents dated from 23rd March onwards. You can still upload your historic ascents.

jascott83 22 Jun, 2019 Solo Just didn't feel long enough really! The involving bits were really involving but never felt too desperate. Sunny warm day may have helped this. The arete section made you concentrate.

Northern Star 21 Apr, 2019 AltLd Climbed in almost peace and solitude on a busy Bank Holiday. Mix of solo and roped. What a great scramble but very glad of the rope in a few places. Arete pitch in particular is superb. Pretty tough for a Grade 3. Hope the 'very off route' young couple we directed over into Nor Nor Gulley made it out okay?

Offwidth 6 May, 2018 AltLd O/S Did the true start as per the Ogwen guide, up the stepped groove right of the steep central face. This first pitch is HVD, friendly to start but increasingly delicate and thought provoking with height. Those seeking a fun romp should use the scramble start just right of Nor Nor Gully. The pitch 5 exposed polished arete was pretty tough for Diff as well.

Stuie73 24 Sep, 2016 Lead Only the second time that I have climbed this route, really like it, great rock features and some good technical sections. My friend Claire's 1st time on route and in new rock shoes, climbed well and found it challenging for a Diff! I put it at a hard Diff or an easy V Diff myself.

Stuie73 21 Sep, 2016 Solo Top grade scramble!, and hard for the grade which was a pleasant surprise, some tricky little technical pitches and intentionally went off route onto some more challenging ground here and there. Me and Col actually roped up for the 1st 2 pitches as we are trying to get up to speed on rope work but then soled the rest of the route. On the descent we had to abseil down a tricky impasse so more good practice before soloing stepped crack on Tryfan bach to finish a grand day out.

BusyLizzie 11 Sep, 2014 2nd Very tricky to find the start - it seems to be closer to Nor-Nor-Buttress than to Bastow Buttress, but not clear at all. The slab on pitch 5 does indeed have a very exposed right-hand edge and is scarcely protectable. A good experience, easy on second but with some unexpectedly hair-raising moments for the leader. I am supposed to be able to lead Diff but I was very glad indeed that I wasn't leading this one!

Robbie 25 Mar, 2012 AltLd O/S Our first foray onto the east face, took us by surprise! We must have strayed onto the alternative sections of the route given in the Ogwen climbers club guide as we thought it much more than a Diff. Thoroughly enjoyable day and ended up with the summit to ourselves on a spectacular day! :)
