Started up Gamma Gully, finished up Empire State variation. Some wild weather and interesting approach slopes interspersed with some warm sun. Great route!

What we think was the Original start, then more certainly the Empire State finish. Good and white. Direct icefall not properly formed, detached. A beautiful day, good company, and novel to be in the sun in the morning. The start we used was to traverse in above the Slot of Gamma Gully, about 60-65m up Gamma. The traverse was delicate, not just a romp, and led directly to the foot of the “crux” groove, which wasn’t iced so we used the crack to its left. The traverse and groove go in one pitch from Gamma.

No ice, we tried to make it work for 3 hours. A scary blank slab that needed crossed leftward above big roof, a metre off the line stopped us.
