OG 23 Aug AltLd Overall a good mountain day out, there and back from Hohsaas, though not the most aesthetic. Quite a path for most of it. We sought and found good scrambling on the ridge crest where the path goes to its right. The Moran guide from 2012 talks of snow/ice at the top but this was not in evidence - others left axes lower down and a Swiss chap we passed said that it’s all disappeared in recent years. We carried rope, axes and crampons all the way up from the glacier and back down! Lots of loose rock of all sizes, and quite slippery near the top with rime (later water) on the rocks so be careful. Later in the day I imagine the steep upper path gets looser as it unfreezes too.

mysterion 12 Sep, 2013 Solo First alpine route. Conditions not ideal (top in cloud). Followed ridge all the way from/back to Weissmies hut to avoid glacier. Bottom section is a boulder field not a ridge followed by a short ridge (to UK grade 1 except unavoidable slab around UK grade 3) then long slope to summit on snowed up/iced up loose rock to right rather than whited out snowslope to left. People met on the way up pronounced the last section too icy and dangerous so turned back at 3950+ metres. Made guidebook time up but not down. Edit: having seen a 360 panorama I now realise I reached the summit block, so just a few metres short.
