400m, 12 pitches. Multiple steep steps (up to 60m high) with broken ground in between. the exact length of the route depends on conditions and the number of pitches is variable. It is possible to escape from the canyon in many places if not wanting to top out, however not every segment is escapable so it is worth checking conditions before committing to some of the pitches. The first pitch is right next to the car park at the tunnel mouth (only accessible if driving from Italy, if approaching from Chamonix, park at the Buvette du Dard car park or one of the lower lay byes and follow the paths up hill), behind the gritter sheds. This pitch has a bolted belay on the left, so it is possible to top rope/absail the pitch, however the rest of the route is unequipped. Continue up the steps with variable height and difficulty (the crux coming at about pitch 7/8) for as little or as long as you like. above pitch 1 the descent is by walking off to the right or left and descending through the woods (no obvious path). If topping out it is possible (and perhaps easier) to continue up to the Plan de l'aguilles and take the cable car back down.
