230m, 6 pitches. 1/06/18 ‘Wet Foot West’ VS 4b 230m (FA – S.Tolhurst S.Van Dijck B.Harrison)

Located on the western tip of Soay, this route is a contender for the UK’s most westerly climb.

Pitch 1. 45m
Arrival onto the crag via dinghy, land the dinghy in a small groove 20 m left of the large sea cave. From arrival platform climb small chimney to corner crack, climb this corner for 4 meters to arrive on the ramp line that is a prominent feature from right to left across the crag. Traverse the ramp for 30m to belay.

Pitch 2. 55m
Continue along the ramp for a full 50m pitch. Belay below green walls above.

Pitch 3. 20m (could be straightened).
Climb up green wall for 3-4m then traverse left and climb down a prominent gully for 8 meters, belay in the base of this gully above large platform.

Pitch 4. 50m
Traverse down left at first then up leftwards trending ramp, continue until below a large gully leading up the crag. From here it is possible to traverse left and up to the defined pinnacle that marks the end of the climb. The first ascentionists took a groove on the right.

Pitch 5. 30m 4b
Climb up groove and into corner, cracking little pitch. Belay on top of corner groove on large ledge, overlooking slabs to its left

Pitch 6. 30m (exposed)
Exposed down climb of the prominent slab to base of first pinnacle. Climb pinnacle to top, triumphantly belay up the second and celebrate the UK’s most westerly climb.

Descent back down route.
