βeta: The first half of the climb is still there, it’s just 50m further down the hillside. It’s now a pretty sketchy slab with which requires a lot of care and is no longer VD. I pulled off loose flakes and the rock seemed very fragile. I’d say it’s a HS 4a now with a run out bottom section

βeta: Langdale guidebook (FRCC 2013?) describes following a flake crack to start. Taking the same line as the photo topo starts with a slab that I couldn't find any worthwhile gear on. Seems to me like a block and tree above the slab (which can be seen in the photo topo) has fallen off and taken away the crack which might have once offered protection. The first 5m now feels a bit bold/serious for VD, maybe until someone excavates the dirt in search of placements or suggests an alternative start lower on the rib?
