Supercrack Buttress #22 2004 guide

As striking as "Supercrack", and another three star line. A popular route on an overused buttress. The thin start is rapidly getting wider from erosion. This crack used to be 5.12- but as the finger-stacking section getting shorter and shorter the route gets easier. Still a cracking climb. Bring at least 7 thin-hand pieces (friend #2 or camalot #1) and a few smaller camming devices for the start.

The original name was "One eyed poker", but it is most often refered to as "Coyne Crack"

Flailed from the start! Simply couldn't get any secure locks in the green cam crack at the start. Tried laybacking but that was tenuous just to climb, never mind placing gear, so chickened out after placing a couple of cams. Still couldn't climb the crack direct so had a bit of a strop, down aided and stormed off cursing the climbing at the Creek. Sorry Eszter and Helen for the amateur theatrics! Thankfully did Incredible Hand Crack after this which was great and pretty easy so restored my mental balance...
