1400m. From the Dent Parrachee hut. A snow slope and rocky ridge scramble. The snow slope may well just be boulders by August these days.
You can also stay at the Fournache refuge (private, slightly more expensive but not as busy as Dent Parrachee hut). The route starts off with a simple walk to a long scree slope which takes about an hour and needs a helmet for protection from loose stones. Pass the Dame Blanche to its right to gain last bit of scree path to col. Scrambling takes over now, follow obvious crampon scratches and path up steep but not difficult ground. Exposed in places. The final section is an almost horizontal snow patch to the summit, a slip would be terrible! Take crampons! View is great from the summit. Return the same way.
