Millstone Buttress © cmgcmg
Millstone Buttress is a pleasing rock promontory which erupts from the hillside in an unexpected way. Approached from the top it would be easy to walk straight off - Climbing is pleasant and of sufficient length to make it interesting. Belays at the top can be a bit sparse so it is worth belaying below the final move for some of the climbs. With views over the Longdendale valley this crag offers an excellent days climbing in the baking sun or (more often) the howling gales that bless this valley.
Park at Crowden SK074994 and walk over Lads Leap (40 minutes...). Alternatively Park at SK039984 and walk in past Tintwistle Knarr (30 minutes. Understood to be owned by United Utilities with no access issues.
|Stake replaced 24/07/2011. Small cairn next to it because the grass is quite long.|
