Crag features

Taghia is a beautiful place known worldwide by the art of climbing. Located in the Moroccan High Atlas, province of Azilal. It is surrounded by colossal and majestic rock faces whose height varies between 250 and 850 metres. In a way it is a fabulous and paradisiac space to take full advantage of climbing on an excellent limestone. The multiplicity of different climbs offers climbers the possibility to climb at most levels from moderate to difficult. Often well equipped multi pitch sport climbs, but the enthuiastic trad climber can find plenty of adventerous routes to climb too.

Taghia is also the main point to discover the Moroccan High Atlas as: the valley of the Ait Bougumez, the summit of M'goun, Imilchil, the Cathedral, Anergy also the gorges of Dades and Todra.

Approach notes

Taghia is a small village in the High Atlas, reachable with a 2 hours walk from the village of Zaouiat (although a new road has now been constructed all the way to the village (2023)). The altitude of the village is about 2000m. Once in the village climbing can be accessed on foot, some crags only 5 minutes walk where as others may take up to a couple of hours to reach via technical gorges will boulder chokes and Berber bridges.
