Crag features

Amazing steep limestone crag 15 minutes walk from the village of Casoli in the Tuscan hills. Shady in the afternoon and with a range of long (~25m) routes on leaning limestone. Pockets, edges and tufas, the hanging tufa of Ah! looks amazing and is the cover for the Tuscany guide.

Approach notes

Drive towards the village of Casoli, taking the high road into the village on the approach. Park in the village square, just next to a right hand hairpin and by an old monastry. Follow a narrow lane from the square (the 'High Street'), which leads away from the road, until you reach the church. Fork left downhill on a path which then runs level until you reach a Rombolo fountain. Carry on, take the right branch uphill to reach a saddle with a small shrine. Drop down the other side (~100m) to a small cairn where a path leads diagonally left across the hillside. Cross the dry river bed (fixed rope) and continue to reach the base of the crag. Approx 30 mins.

If you miss the final section above, you will soon arrive at the old hand lines of the original approach. Take care as the ropes are very old and decayed.
