Varied types of climbing - long routes, a detached pillar, overhangs, steep slabs, walls, splitter cracks, really nice and interesting. Rock is the very hard white 'sandstone partially turned to glass' kind of stuff like at Fosse Arthour. Bolts are good glue-ins, spacings are somewhat 'sporting' with the odd route requiring bravery or care near the tops. Belays are mostly chains. Topos available at http://www.grimpavranches.com/les-topos/topo-mortain/. If anyone wants to take over moderating this crag then please do, I only did it to get the crag in the database :-)
From the centre of Mortain follow brown signs for 'Le Petit Cascade' and park in the huge carpark in front of the town hall/old bank on the western side of town. Head out of the carpark down the road and instantly down a footpath on your right towards the Petit Cascade. The majority of climbs are on the right above the path, the Aiguille is at the bottom of the hill past the old factory and over the bridge. There are toilets in the carpark and picnic tables below the aiguille.
