An Cliseam seen from the south east. © Vanessa Simmons

Crag features

At 799m, this is the highest peak in the Outer Hebrides, and a Corbett. On the southwest side of the peak are the Coire Dubh Slabs which are some 250m high and on the north side is Aonaig Mhòr where there are a few winter climbs.

Approach notes

One option is to turn off the A859 just north of Tarbert and go 1km along the B887 to Bunavoneader and from there follow the path a short way to then break off and follow the burn into the coire. Quicker though, is from higher up at the west end of Loch na Ciste where there is a layby off the A859. Slopes by the burn lead to a bealach where the southern spur of An Cliseam can be contoured before descending to a bright green grass patch within Coire Dubh; a short ascent then leads to the slabs.
