Crag features

Quite a few sandy, often friable gritstone blocks in a lovely quiet setting. The largest 'boulder' has a couple of good boulder problems and micro-routes.

Isolated Block has a sign "Please don't climb- Owl and Kestrel nest here".

Approach notes

Located in a meadow just off the A661, between Wetherby and Harrogate.
Approach: Park in the little bay (space for 2 cars) on the opposite side of the road to Plumpton Rocks (signposted - no climbing there though).
Hop over the stile and follow the path until you see the rocks.

Some very curious and slightly terrifying little cows/bullocks ambushed us on the scoop. Retreat through the hole was cut off and a stand-off ensued. A shoe was licked. Beware.

The bullocks ate two pages out of my guidebook. Otherwise a fun crag, but be warned!

Some of the grades given below seem very off and don't agree with the YMC Yorkshire Grit guide... Sandman, Western Edges and Pockets wall are harder than the f3+/f4 they get here (listed at f6A/+ in the guide).

The rock quality is in that murky sandy area between good rock and choss. The setting is a cow shite ridden field. Enjoy.

Loads of stuff - but cold in November - pleasant alternative if Almscliffe and Brimham are off. Yup - loads of cattle, but they're friendly.

Good spot, easy access and pleasant afternoon bouldering, until the farmer turned out the cattle anyway.
