Crag features

One of the best hills in Ireland, a north to south ridge with a grassy west flank and spectacular rocky coums on the east. The Faha Ridge is a spectacular scramble, perhaps Diff briefly, and the sea cliffs on the north end are huge.

Approach notes

Best walking route is from the east up the path from Faha, passing above the Cruttia chain of lakes, quite steep at the top. This route also gives access to the Faha Ridge. Also excellent are the traverse over Gearhane and Brandon Peak from the top of Connor Pass and heading north to Masatiompan and following the coast round to Brandon Point. Routes from the west are dull, except for the one following the cliffs up. A superb scrambling round is to go up the East Ridge of Barr an Ghéaráin (Brandon Peak), over the main summit and down the Faha Ridge, which is perhaps slightly easier in descent.
