Rocktype Grit (quarried)
Over the winter 2009/10 quite a lot of freeze thaw damage has occured to the western wall of the quarry making some of the climbs obsolete and others loose & dangerous.
The quarry is owned by two landowners, with the ownership boundary following an old wall line from before the quarry exisited, meaning one section of wall in the middle of the quarry is in different ownership to the rest. Currently only one of the landowners is happy to allow climbing on their land, although discussions are ongoing with the other landowner about the potential for future access to their section of the quarry.
Currently the following routes are banned: Wanderers' Return to Nov - all other routes are accessible. Please ensure you only climb within the accessible areas, be polite and courteous to the landowners and be quiet and calm upon topping out to avoid disturbing horses in the field above.
|Noticed a pair of kestrels nesting in a corner of Rivington Wall yesterday. Sadly there's some recent graffiti and the whole place feels neglected. A shame as it's otherwise a lovely setting.|

|Pretty overgrown at the moment, this hasn't seen much chalk in a while - could be good with a thorough clean though - not much below VS, but a few choice lines over HVS. worth an evening visit.|
