England's most remote route! (allegedly...) © Hernan Ibanez
Very Isolated! A number of short scrappy climbs (from M to VS), but also some good bouldering potential.
Check the MOD firing times. Fur Tor itself is within the Okehampton range. The easiest access (probably) starts at 538 823 and follows the River Tavy through Tavy Cleave and this is in the Willsworthy range. An alternative start point is 546 805 and through the Merrivale range but for this route bring decent hiking boots and a compass!
This crag is home to the only Common Raven nest site on Dartmoor. The nests, which are usually large and clearly visible, are protected by The Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981), and to avoid reckless damage to the nest, birds or their eggs during the sensitive breeding period, the BMC advises climbers to avoid routes which pass through, or near, the nests mid-February to mid-May.
