Small horseshoe of excellent bouldering NE of Arrecife, near Guatiza. Hidden from road.
Consists of three areas - The horseshoe (an old waterfall); Right Wall ( downstream and up to the left); The boulders - of various sizes in the barranco heading downstream.
A Sept 2019 YouTube vid shows three matresses left at the crag. This makes it well worth a visit if you couldn't bring a mat on holiday.
UPDATE 06/10/2021 - Unfortunately the mattresses were nowhere to be found today at any of the 3 areas mentioned here. Some of the problems would be possible without, but many are bordering on highball so worth taking a pad along if you go. The area looks great so well worth a visit.
Take the first exit (to the right of the petrol station) down a dirt track from the roundabout at the turn for Guatiza when travelling North on the LZ-1. Follow the dirt track, cross the river bed and after 20m hairpin left. Park 30m on the left. Walk across to the river bed and follow it down to find the bouldering.
March 2025, no mattresses. However, decent landings and quite a few steady climbs to top out without worrying about falling. A few traverses too. You'll need to sneak your bouldering mat into the hand luggage without the other half noticing if you want to engage in any of the more challenging stuff. satnav09 - 29/Mar/25 |
