Penny Orr on the appropriately named, but inappropriately graded '6B Arete' at Down Tor (which actually gets 6A) © Rob Greenwood - UKClimbing
A spread out series of boulders dot the hillside of Down Tor, conveniently located just west of the popular Norsworthy Bridge parking at the far end of Burrator reservoir. Traditionally Down Tor was combined with a trip to Cuckoo Rock / Combeshead Tor and problems were neither named nor recorded. However as more and more problems have been (re-)climbed, (re-)named and logged it has become a worthwhile independent venue, especially for the low to mid grade boulderer. It may also help that, compared to other areas on the Moor, some of the grades seem on the soft side.
Park at Norsworthy Bridge at the far end of Burrator reservoir and follow the obvious path eastwards, initially across grassy fields, to climb up to the Tor proper.
