Bietschhorn sunrise © Iain Thow
The Bietschhorn which like the Eiger just fails to reach the 4000m mark and as a consequence does not attract the attention it deserves. Viewed from the south it is mostly rock and viewed from the north mostly snow and ice. None of the routes are easy.
The Bietschhorn can be climbed from the Bietschhorn hut, accessed from the Lotschental to the north or the Baltschiederklause hut, accessed from the Rhone Valley to the south.
