This is a steep little outcrop low down on the east side of Helm Crag. It is very clearly seen across the valley from the Traveller's Rest. The crag has a reddish look to it and has an obvious barrel shape in the upper two thirds of the front face. This results in a very steep section which is breached by the crags star attraction - Meltdown.
Easily accessed from the Grassmere side of the A591. Walk-in will take around 20 minutes ensuring you do not get tempted to cross the farmers field.
