On the East side of Tanygrisiau reservoir is a two tiered quarry of very hard microgranite type rock. Some of the walls are of excellent quality being compact and solid, other areas of the quarry contain a lot of shattered rock presumably from blasting. These areas demand respect as they often have large unstable blocks, flakes and piles of loose rock on ledges. A fine place to be in late afternoon/early evening. Plenty of scope for further development.
Park in marked parking area on A496 just South of junction for Tanygrisiau. Cross river by footbridge at SH688446 and follow public footpath SW under pylons to crag - about 1km. Alternatively Park at head of the lake by the cafe and walk round past hydro power station.
