A collection of a few large boulders at the base of an escarpment about 20km north of Thumamah National Park, 80km northeast of Riyadh. They are worth travelling to if you're local to the area. You need ropes for these climbs as they are too high for bouldering. The tops of the boulders are accessible via the easier lines, fixed ropes or improvisation with a few logs lying around on the ground.
Most of the boulders have large pipes cemented on the top which can be used for toproping the many faces. No bolts placed (yet). The boulders are 6-10m in height and, depending on the line climbed, are anything from f3+ to f7+.
Topos to follow in time.
Rock quality varies from dodgy to good pockets.
Follow highway 550 north to its junction with 533. Follow 533 north for about 6km (past approximately 17 electricity pylons) then head right into the desert on an indistinct track, keeping a long fence to your left. After about 9 km you will see the boulders to your right underneath the escarpment.
Note that Google Maps shows a lake beneath the escarpment. Don't let this get your hopes up, it's just two muddy ponds.
