This crag is hidden inside Cross Plantation on the western side of Farndale and reaches 8 metres in height. The rock is excellent coarse moorland sandstone but unfortunately the main buttress has become overgrown since the first routes were put up due to the large trees which surround it. Another buttress just south seems to stay cleaner and also has some boulder problems and more potential. Pick a prolongued dry spell if visiting.
Can be combined with the bouldering at Petergate Quarry which is 5 minutes walk north.
Take the turning off the main moor road just after Hutton Le Hole for Gillamoor. After about a mile take the right turning for Farndale. Once at the top of the hill park at the large lay-by on the left. Walk down the road then take the left track for West Harland Farm. Walk past the reservoir and follow the main track up north towards the gate to access the moor. About 100m after the gate, take a right on a small path and as this passes closest to the woods hop over the gap in the wall. The crag is just down the hill, best accessed by a gully through the centre of the main buttress. 20 minutes from the car.
There are no known issues but at present it is best to keep a low profile as the boundary for open access is right on the edge of the moor just above the crag. Strictly no dogs allowed!
