Wilsons Prom is perhaps Victoria's most scenic National Park and large granite domes and slabs are abundant. Sadly and not unusually for Australia, the powers that be dictate that almost all of it is not accessible. There are however a number of areas within the park where climbing is tolerated though often requiring permission from the park office at Tidal River and sometimes an off-track hiking permit to gain access to the rock. The most popular exception to these requirements is bouldering/climbing on the limited but fun boulders at the north end of Squeaky Beach. Not worth flying for but great if you visiting the Prom anyway.
Head to Tidal River campground. Look all around you at the granite which you aren't allowed to climb on. Wonder why the Australian climbing community is such a feeble lobby.
Climbing is banned on almost all of the plentiful rock of Wilsons Prom. Rock climbing is a minority interest here and as such the community has little power to change the situation. For the few higher areas wher you are allowed to climb (e.g Mount Bishop, some parts of Mount Oberon) you will have to seek a permit from the Park Office in the Tidal River campground. The staff won't really understand you because for them anything beyond walking on designated trails is an alien activity. Other than that you can mess about on diminutive boulders on Norman Beach and Squeaky Beach and gaze mournfully at what could be.
