Crag features

The Schyeggstock has two traditional alpine climbs on the ridges.

Approach notes

From Oberrickenbach a cable car goes to Banalpsee.

1) From here follow paths up the mountainside directly towards Sätteliteufi until a left slanting grassy ledge is seen. From here, a route marked intermettently wiht blue markers (some red overpainted with blue) follows ground which looks steep, vegitated and improbable. The scrambling is often exposed and is vegetated in places - at one point a rope is helpful. A memorial marks someone killed by a rockfall in the 1900s. Once on the plateaux, cairns can be followed to Cabane Philippe Morel (Biwak Sätteliteufi). This approach would be unsafe in wet weather.

2) An alternative ascent is to continue round the base of Kleiner Sättelistock to where fixed ropse lead up to the ridge between Kleiner Sättelistock and Grosser Sättelistock. This route is much less exposed and much less steep than the direct approach.
