A summit with some great views, both to the nearby mountains of Speer and Federispitz, beyond to the Glarner Alpen, and even across the valley plain and over the Zürichsee.
Best reached from the trail head to the north at Mittel Wengi, from where the easiest route is a straightforward walk up to the col Furggli on the east side and thence to the summit, c.600m of ascent. Alternatively, heading initially westwards to Oberbogme gives two harder alternatives: The north ridge is a scramble with some metal steps and bars, SAC grade T4, UIAA I, while the path traversing the mountain on the west side has some exposed and tricky steps, quite tricky for the red-white-red path marking. There are several chains to hold on to in places, other places where a chain would be welcome, a few makeshift, rickety wooden bridges, and a short rock step to overcome (not necessarily in that order) before a final easy walk up the south-west ridge to the summit.
The free, plentiful parking at Mittel Wengi is reached with an 8km drive up the mountain road starting from Steinenbrugg, 1km south east of Kaltbrunn.
