First Ascent of The Third Cat Gets the Cream on Lion Rock © Peter Le Feuvre

Crag features

There is one route recorded (Lost Horizon) on the cliff behind and slightly left (facing the cliff) of Dog & Lion Rocks, this cliff being characterised by large blocks at its top. The cliff is reached by a low tide hop from the bottom of the rocky ridge across the rocks to a short wall and Venus Pool.

The other recorded routes (The Scarlet Pimple Nell and Viper’s Gold) lie in a small zawn that sits below the rocky ridge as it begins to lose height. The small zawn is reached by scrambling down and around the rocky ridge.

Approach notes

Routes are on the cliffs on the east (left facing the sea) of Le Harve de Bon Port, behind Dog & Lion Rocks. From the carpark at Moulin Huet, follow the cliff path west (right facing the sea) past the Bon Port Hotel.

The position of the cliff is marked (within a few hundred metres) by a green bench situated above a promontory. Scramble down the left side of the promontory to a clear area paved with granite flag stones. Keep scrambling down the left side of the promontory from the clear area and under a small tree to reach a fisherman’s rope. The fisherman’s rope runs down a vegetated slope to a rocky ridge that enables access to Dog & Lion Rocks.

Access Advice

Access to the whole area is best on a low spring tide.
