The site of the infamous Vajont dam that failed on October 9, 1963, creating one of the largest tidal waves in history that subsequently razed Longarone and several neighboring villages in the Piave valley to the ground. Via Ferrata della Memoria was constructed in October 2015 and gives excellent views over the gorge, dam and surrounding area.
Approach notes
The VF is accessed from road 251which departs from Longarone-Bl to the small hamlet of Erto.
