Climbs 10
Rocktype Limestone
Altitude 1944m a.s.l
Faces NE
Generally good rock. The lines are quite obvious but the description of the routes helps to spot the traverses. Some pitons left on the routes, generally at least one piton in site at the anchors.
Routes are varied, generally technical-exposed slabs, steep grooves, jamming cracks and chimneys.
The most popular routes are busy in the weekends, but being far from any other team of a couple of pitches makes you feel absolutely isolated, since the routes generally do not follow straight lines.
The view is simply amazing in proper alpine environment.
From the military dismissed building on the italian road to Plocken Pass, follow the track to the Winkel hut (15 min.) then continue up the Winkel valley following the indications to Monte Cavallo/Ferrata Contin. The routes are on the wall facing the path on the left hand side when you walk uphill (NE facing, 1h to 1.5h depending on the route).
Descent from all routes is by walking to the top of Monte Cavallo and following the via Ferrata Contin that leads back to the path (30 min to 1h 20 min. depending on the route to the bottom of the via ferrata).
