Great alpine cirque with many mountain faces to choose from, most of which face south so ideal in early spring and late autumn. Routes vary in length from 160 - 400m and between difficulty of German 3 - 7's. The routes are mostly bolted, albeit sparsely. Expect 5m runouts. Harder pitches are bolted better.
Take the road to Steinsee Hutte from Highway 171 before entering the tunnel East of Zams. The road soon becomes a steep gravel, single-lane path, but is in good condition and can be accessed with any motorized vehicle or mountain bike. Follow it to Parkplatz Alfuz, where the trail to Steinsee Hutte starts.
The trail is easy to follow and climbs about 800m to the hut at 2069m. Approach time is around 2 hours with heavy bags.
The routes mostly start at around 2300m so there is an additional 1 - 2 hours of approaching from the hut.
