Highball pinnacle climb in Nant Peris © Lank it like me
The striking pinnacle on the hillside (Clogwyn Mawr) above Llyn Peris, close to the entrance of an old copper mine.
Makes for an exciting highball, with a delicate step across to the adjacent crag whereby you can descend.
Surely has been climbed in the past, but no recorded ascents have been found, so adding to the database (April 2019).
You can park as for the Llyn Peris walls in the layby, cross the road and over the rusty gate and head up the hill. Follow a path trending leftwards for approx. 10 minutes until reaching a wall, beyond which are some ruined buildings or livestock pens and obvious spoils of old quarry/mine workings. From here make your way rightwards up the craggy hillside for another 5-10 minutes until you reach the pinnacle.
Alternatively park in the larger layby at the southern end of Llyn Peris, beyond Ben's Bunkhouse. There are various entry points to the hillside from here, from either end of the layby or via the bunkhouse. Follow the vague path until you find the old pens and quarry workings on your right, then make your way up the hillside to your left. Similar walk-in time from either direction.
There are various other undocumented boulders to be found strewn across the hillside.
There are no comments from visitors to this crag. |
