Crag features
Situated on pleasant farmland in a quiet corner of the county, Edge Scar appears to be an ancient quarry. Never more than bouldering height and with room for only a handful of problems, it is nevertheless well worth checking out - for a few quick ticks - if one is in the area with an hour to spare.
Composed of hard compact sandstone, the crag consists of two walls. Rockovers and mantels are the key to sucess and with a soft grass landing its a great venue for solo climbers.
Although facing west at low altitude, the main part of the crag is sheltered under a large oak tree and is consequently green and in most places dusty and dirty; though surprisingly this does not detract from the enjoyment. Climbing is possible all year round, within a day of rain.
The problems below are described left to right, starting on the left-hand face.
Approach notes
From Broxton roundabout (junction A41 / A534), travel south on the A41 for 2.5 miles and turn right at a crossroads onto a minor road signposted 'Edge'. Drive for 1 mile along this road bearing left at a fork until the crag can be seen 175 metres across a field to the left.
Park the car on the verge, go through the gates and follow the edge of the field to the crag (2 minutes from road).

The owners of the crag are unknown. Be discrete. If asked to leave, do so quickly and politely.
