Phoenix Park Boulder. Overhang and slab in the evening sun. © ctranter

Crag features

The Phoenix park boulder: a majestic manufactured monolith standing proud atop rolling the parkland of Windmill Hill, Runcorn. It is a definitely sadly ignored and possibly up-and-coming climbing destination perfect for gym climbers still scared of touching real rock, or outdoor climbers bored of hunting for holds or brooding over beta. The grades are softer than the surrounding safety surface and everything is contrived.

Approach notes

The boulder is located at the south end of the park. Car access from Castlefields Avenue East via Phoenix Park Avenue by the new estate. The boulder is visible up the hill past the Urban cafe from the car park.
