Jingle Pot quarry overview © Small and weak
Enclosed limestone quarry with walls up to 3-18m high. The main walls face East, West and South. The rock is mainly solid, but care is needed with finishes, and a pre-placed abseil rope may be sensible precaution.
There are very few natural belays so stakes are needed. These are NOT in-situ but there are 3 stakes spread above the East Wall (as of 26.7.24). There are also some bolt belays above some of the climbs (KOTS, BM). 2 spair stakes are also in the cave if needed.
The Crag is on open access land. The crag is very close to the main track and we found no sign of nesting birds in the vicinity in late May.
Park at the start of the main Apedale track at the cattle grid on the corner 1km south of the highpoint on the Grinton to Redmire road. There is parking for up to 10 cars on the verge 50 north of the cattle grid. Walk or cycle along the landrover track and continue past Dent's Houses until just before the track starts to climb to apedale Head. A landrover track leads off north (on your right) from here and the narrow entrance to the quarry is visible just beyond this junction about 50m north of the main track. Grid reference SE 012 948. Altitude 445m.
There are a few stakes above the East Wall and a couple of bolt belays above "King of the Swingers". Plus 2 spare in the cave if needed. Petegunn - 26/Jul/24 |
