Crag features

The Pietra di Bismantova is a stunning sandstone monolith amongst the green mountains of the Tosco-Emilian Appennine. This is the famous Purgatory mount and it is an amazing experience to climb all the way from Inferno to Paradise. The presence of a perfect microclimate makes the Pietra a perfect place where to climb any day throughout the year, even if snow is falling or if it's raining very hard. Even during the hot summer days as well as during the coldest winter ones. Here you can find a variety of sport routes, as well as multi-pitches. The Pietra has a very particular style of climbing (do not trust crimps! Slopers are your friends! Smear those feet and learn how to properly place them) and do not worry if you struggle to climb grades that at home you climb easily: here the rock and the climbing style are peculiar and it takes a bit of time to get used to them, but once you do it is totally worth it!

Approach notes

Super easy and quick approach! 5 minutes walk from the car park. However, if you do not want to pay the parking ticket, just park your car along the road that leads to the parking place.
