Crag features

November 2022 Update - crags fully underwater, that's it for this year, see you next autumn if it's a dry one!

NORMALLY UNDERWATER. These crags are only climbable when the water level in Loch Treig is substantially below normal.

Rock is a compact quartzy schist, cracks can feel like gritstone, wave washed and areas pebble worn. The lowest rocks are covered in freshwater sponges

Approach notes

Pick a dry year, late summer, walk south from Fersit until you reach the dam, drop down towards the dry loch bed and walk south along raised pebble beaches on the west shore until opposite the train tunnel, around 800 metres from dam. Song Crag has a higher base and can be approached by abseil when other crags still underwater.

The crag dries quickly and it is possible to climb between showers.

Alternative return: 150m north of Beach Crag a toe of wooded ground just reaches the beach between large unstable landslides - go straight up through the wood to the vehicle track.
