Crag features
Waves crash over the back of an ancient whale long fused to the bedrock. A lone climber is poised at the crux in a classic highstep pose, a dark silhouette against the gold of the settling sun. A gentle breeze infused with the subtle but unmistakable aroma of the sea cools his sweat and calms his nerves before the final lunge to the last hold...Are you the lone climber? The combination of idyllic settings and great bouldering makes Whaleback a special bouldering experience and should not be missed. Approach notes
On caves Rd turn onto Juniper Rd. If you have a 2WD park at the 2WD area (-33.836367, 115.005350) before the road gets too soft. Allow ~30mins for the walk in. If you have a 4wd you can park at the boulders! Take a left at the fork (-33.835348, 115.000281) then a right at the next fork (-33.835366, 114.998255). Once you get to the coast go left and follow the trail past the lone boulder (-33.837114, 114.995775) to the main area (-33.838966, 114.994742)
