Tidied crag © Nibs

Crag features

Low grade bouldering on an esoteric south facing basalt crag. The rock is mostly bullet hard. There is also a stand alone boulder in the field in front of the crag with some very easy problems. More bouldering and some trad can be found in the larger quarry near the carpark.

Can be somewhat overgrown and some gardening equipment proves useful. Winter likely the best time of year to visit as the greenery is much reduced.

Requires traffic to form access paths but the rock is clean.

26/02/21: A number of large blocks have been removed from the wall on the right side downgrading some of the 6a starts.

Approach notes

From Johnstone, take Auchenlodment Road. Follow this out of the back of the town. Near the top of the hill, the crag can be viewed on the RHS of the road if the greenery is low; otherwise look out for the parking beside a FC Windyhill sign.

From the parking area, cross the road, turn right then follow a path in on the left which leads to the top of the crag in less than 1min. It's basically just across the road.

Big quarry is same side as parking just into the woods

Looked at this today after a short boulder at the other wall. Good effort whoever has been cleaning it 👍

crag given a good bit of gardening today, cleared brambles and whims, accessible from the path over the top (drop in end furthest away from road)
