Crag features

The highest peak on Arran and is therefore served with excellent paths. The exception being the more popular large slab areas of South and Rosa slabs. This is quite arduous to reach from the Glen Rosa footpath.

Coire Lan due to its elevation and easy access offers the best opportunity for winter climbing on Arran. The climbs are generally short and buttress climbs will strip quick in the early morning sun. If a sunny day is in store get there for dawn or use the West facing routes.

Rock climbing is limited due to the vegitated nature but good rock does exist albeit short. Coire Lan Slabs offer good quality rock, good protection and sheltered. The climbs are short and are more outcrop climbing rather than mountain routes. Ideal for a quick access short day.

Approach notes

The NTS path is very well maintained including strimming back the growth each year. Fast access to climbing in the area should take about an hour and a half.

It's possible to drive up the single track road serving High Corrie to the start of the path proper saving a good bit of steep height gain. There is limited parking at a layby at the top for about 6 cars.

No Access Issues

If parking at High Corrie do not block access to the water tank area opposite the parking layby.
