Crag features

Selvík is a small bay on the Hólmsberg cliff band. Currently, climbing on the cliffs has taken place since 2023 though the largest development took place in 2024 (as of writing).

The area is currently entirely trad with some bolted anchors for abseils. Currently bolting is not allowed until a consensus has been reached, though the ægir sector should remain entirely trad.

Approach notes

A 45–50-minute drive from Reykjavík. The area is a few minutes north of Keflavík close to the harbour of Helguvík.

The currently developed sectors have easy approaches. Generally one should park close to the lighthouse in a small gravel car park. The walks to the crags are not difficult but finding the correct spot to abseil may take a little time. Some bolts can be found where there is no natural protection. Other areas still to be developed will gain ab anchors within the next year (written Sept 2024).

Access Advice

Currently none, please be aware there are many birds nesting in the area. They've been there much longer than we have, so please treat them with respect and don't disturb nesting birds.

From the cliffs it's common to see whales, seals and various other marine life, take your litter away with you and respect the crag and nature.
