A bouldering venue worth seeking out if you're desperate, local or interested in the great tradition of esoteric fingery sandstone traversing. This man-made sandstone-block buttress sits on the footpath alongside the River Severn under the Bewdley bypass bridge. The rock quality is generally very good and the climbing is technical, vertical, wall-climb crimping. The proximity of the River Severn makes the setting a compelling blend of the urban and natural environments - when the river is up it can be a dramatic and wild scene, when the river is low it's a tranquil spot where you can watch the kingfishers and egrets.

Celebrity endorsement "The climbing is actually much better than it has any right to be." Johnny Dawes

Approach notes

Blackstone Riverside Park, DY12 2TQ. Located just south of Bewdley on the B4194. Follow the brown and white tourist signs. Grid Reference: 789742.

Park at the car park and follow the obvious track down to the river, around 200 metres away. The bridge is the obvious feature on your left.
